Central baseball welcomed new head coach, Clay Shearer this year. His 23 years of coaching experience is already showing to be a strength in his first season at Central. We look forward to watching him continue to use his knowledge to build our baseball program.

Big Fourth Inning Leads Central of Coosa County Varsity Cougars Past Loachapoka

Central of Coosa County Varsity Cougars defeated Loachapoka 12-1 in last Thursday's opening game thanks in part to seven runs in the fourth inning. Jacob Stevens tripled, scoring one run, Kendall Luke singled, scoring one run, CJ Franklin drew a walk, scoring one run, Bryant Wickersham doubled, scoring three runs, and Haven Williams singled, scoring one run.

Stevens earned the win for Central, surrendering only one hit and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking five.

Wickersham and Franklin each drove in three runs for Central. Williams led with two hits in three at bats. Luke paced with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Central stole four bases in the game and turned one double play in the game. Central was sure-handed in the field and did not commit a single error. Williams had the most chances in the field with seven.

Pitching Impressive As Central Varsity Cougars Beats Isabella

Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday, but Central pulled out a win and defeated Isabella 2-1. Bryant Wickersham started the game for Central and recorded 15 outs.

A single by Jacob Stevens put Central on the board in the bottom of the second.

Wickersham earned the win for Central. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. CJ Franklin collected the save and Ethan Cosby appeared in relief for Central.

Tanner Hill led Central with one run batted in, Stevens led with two hits in two at bats, and Javarious Wilson with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Central stole four bases in the game, three of which were earned by Wickersham.

Central Walks It Off Against Loachapoka

Central took Tuesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 9-8 walk-off victory over Loachapoka. Central was down 8-7 in the bottom of the sixth inning when an error scored two runs.

Central rallied for the victory despite trailing 6-1 in the second.

Central tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a fly out by Ethan Cosby, a single by CJ Franklin, and a single by Haven Williams.

Bryant Wickersham earned the win for Central. The pitcher gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out seven and walking four. Jacob Stevens started on the mound for Central. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and six runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking five.

Cosby and Franklin were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Central while hitting back-to-back. Williams and Franklin each drove in two runs for Central of Coosa County Varsity Cogars. Williams, Keenon Richardson, and Franklin each stole multiple bases for Central of Coosa County Varsity Cogars. Central of Coosa County Varsity Cogars stole 14 bases in the game.
