Central Coosa Athletics off to a Great Start

Friday night varsity football faced off against Sylacauga for their opening game of the season. The Coosa County Schools Honor Guard started the night with the Posting of the Colors, with Representative Ben Robbins on hand for the coin toss. Despite the 2A Central Cougars being pitted against the 5A Sylacauga Aggies, the Cougars gave the Aggies some competition in the first quarter with a score of 21-14. Although the Sylacauga numbers would ultimately take over in the second half,  Coach Flowers said he was proud of how the players never gave up despite having to play two-ways against a team where most of the players are only playing one-way.  The offensive player of the game was Javon Peterson with 150 yards rushing and 75 yards passing. Isaac Lee and Alex Williams were defensive players of the game, playing the entirety of the game. Thank you to our cheerleaders and band, as well as fans, for being their to support our Cougars all the way to the end. Everyone is looking forward to seeing how we perform against 3A Randolph County tonight after we showed we have the potential to take it up a notch this season. Kick-off is 7:00 pm. Fast Entrance tickets can be purchased on GoFan. Thank you to PTO president Maressa Ware for providing pictures.
